Car Crash - Fannie Bay

Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Fannie Bay this morning.

The 24-year-old driver was allegedly travelling north along East Point Road near Vestys Beach at about 1:50 am when the crash occurred.

It appears the driver lost control of the vehicle and skidded for approximately 90 metres before colliding with several trees and stopping on the out bound side of the road.

St John Ambulance attended the scene however the driver refused to be taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for precautionary assessment.

Initial investigations indicate speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The man returned a positive blood alcohol reading of 0.152 percent and the driver is expected to be charged in relation to the following offences:

Drive with high range BAC
Drive in a speed zone more the 45 kilometres faster
Drive with out due care
