Police are continuing their investigations into the attempted sexual assault that occurred yesterday morning.

It is alleged that a 40-year-old female was walking along Gilruth Avenue at approximately 3:30 am when she was grabbed from behind and dragged into nearby bushes.

She managed to fight the offender off and he fled the scene.

Police attended and with assistance from the Dog Operations Unit, located a 29-year-old male offender in the area.

He was apprehended and currently remains in police custody, assisting with enquiries.
