Northern Territory Police today apprehended a 30-year-old man who is wanted by West Australian Police in relation to a multiple shooting incident in a Perth suburb in May.

The shooting incident in Jandakot involved alleged organised crime figures and resulted in four men being shot. Western Australian police subsequently arrested six men over the incident, however, a seventh fled to the Northern Territory.

An arrest warrant for attempted murder was issued in Western Australia on June 4, 2009, for the man.

Investigations carried out by the NT Police Special Operations Section located the suspect in Darwin.

Due to the circumstances of the shooting at Jandakot, members of the Territory Response Section (TRS)were deployed to apprehend the man. Shortly before 1pm today Territory Response Section members located the male at a car dealership in Berrimah. During the apprehension a taser was deployed and the man was arrested.

He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for observation. A subsequent search of the man's vehicle located a .45 calibre handgun and ammunition.

Acting Commander Peter Bravos said the operation and subsequent arrest of the man was a result of excellent cooperation between the two jurisdictions.

"Northern Territory Police regularly cooperate with other jurisdictions in such cases, and today's arrest is another fine example of intelligence sharing across borders."

West Australian Police will be seeking extradition to Perth where the man will face the courts in relation to the attempted murder charge.
