Vehicle Crash - Darwin City - 4317718

Police

Police were called to a single vehicle crash on McMinn Street in Darwin City at about 12:50 this morning.

A 25-year-old man allegedly lost control of his Toyota Landcruiser when attempting to turn left onto Tiger Brennan Drive from McMinn Street. It is believed the man failed to negotiate the corner and subsequently collided with the median strip before rolling the vehicle onto its side.

NT Fire and Rescue service attended the scene and cleared the road of debris.

The man was not injured in the crash and was conveyed to Darwin Watch House after returning a positive blood alcohol content reading of 0.141 percent. He was subsequently arrested and charged in relation to the following offences:

Drive with a medium blood alcohol content
Drive without due care

He is due to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

"We have had several serious vehicle crashes recently and although the road toll stands at 12 compared to 29 last year, this is no time for Territory road users to become complacent"

"NT Police will continue to conduct road safety enforcement to ensure our streets are safer, at the end of the day it comes down to the choices and commonsense of all road users" said Duty Superintendent Des Green.
