Domestic Violence Arrest – Alice Springs - 4322425

A 24-year-old woman has undergone surgery at the Alice Springs Hospital following a domestic disturbance in which she was stabbed in the lower back.

Police received a report of a domestic disturbance at the remote Aboriginal community of Kintore, 530 kilometres west of Alice Springs, just after 10pm yesterday.

It appears the woman was sitting with her four-month old child when a 22-year-old man became agitated with the victim.

The man then grabbed a screwdriver and stabbed the woman in the lower back.

The woman walked to the health clinic and was later medivaced to the Alice Springs Hospital where she underwent surgery and remains in a stable condition.

The man was arrested and charged for causing serious harm and will appear in court at a later date.
