Police

Police apprehended and charged three offenders yesterday as a result of great police work.

Unlawful Entry Fannie Bay - 4323163

Police were called to a Fannie Bay address last night in response to an alleged unlawful entry.

At about 11:20 pm a 41-year-old woman arrived home and disturbed an intruder in her house.

She immediately called police who arrived about five minutes later to discover all rooms in the house had been entered and ransacked.

Upon being disturbed the offender fled the scene over the back fence of the property.

Police patrolling the area located the 28-year-old male offender at a near by property in the possession of property belonging to the victim.

The man was arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watch House; he is expected to be interviewed today and remains in police custody.

Unlawful Entry and Stealing Nightcliff - 4322635

Police arrested a 34-year-old man in relation to an unlawful entry and stealing incident that occurred at a Nightcliff Cafe early yesterday morning.

The man was apprehended at about 8:00 am yesterday not far from the scene with stolen property in his possession.

The offender allegedly entered the cafe and stole a quantity of alcohol and cash from the premises.

He was subsequently arrested and charged in relation to the following offences

Enter a building at night with intent
Stealing

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Magistrate's Court on 17 July 2009.

Arrest - Stealing incidents - 4320962

Police arrested a 22-year-old man in relation to two stealing incident that occurred last Sunday.

At about 4:30 pm on June 21, the offender attended a Berrimah service station and filled his Mitsubishi Magna with $87.10 worth of fuel before leaving without paying.

The following day the offender drove the vehicle to Windows on the Wetlands. The offender then smashed the window of a Toyota Yaris and removed an over night bag from the vehicle.

At about 1:50 am yesterday morning police arrested the offender.

As police believe the vehicle was used in the commission of the event the vehicle has been seized under the Crime Property Forfeiture Act.

He was charged in relation to the following offences and remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Magistrate's Court on 15 July 2009.

Damage property
Stealing
Interfere with vehicle
Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed


Duty Superintendent Jamie Chalker said "These are excellent examples of reactive policing by our operational police members in conjunction wilt alert members of the public."

"We continue to encourage the public to contact us if they see suspicious activity and or believe a crime has been committed".
