Alice Springs Police are calling for public assistance after a woman was found dead overnight.

Alice Springs Police received a report that a body had been found in the Todd River just after 11pm yesterday.

Police conducted a search and found the body of a 31-year-old woman in the middle of the Todd River near the Undoolya Road causeway.

The woman appeared to have extensive injuries to her body. The death is being treated as suspicious.

Police are calling for anybody who may have been in the area between 10pm and 11pm yesterday and witnessed anything to contact police on 131 444.
