Police arrested a 22-year-old man yesterday at about 12:50 pm relation to drug offences.

The man was stopped on the Stuart Highway in Stuart Park when for using his hand held mobile phone while driving.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 27 capsules weighing 8.7 grams believed to be MDMA, 10.5 grams of cannabis and a large amount of cash.

The offender was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital and subjected to a blood test before being conveyed to Darwin Watch House.

He has been charged in relation to the following offences and bailed to appear in Darwin Magistrate's Court on 28 July 2009:

Possess ecstasy- trafficable amount
Possess dangerous drug - cannabis
Drive while disqualified
Drive while using hand held mobile phone
Drive under the influence
