Major Crime Detectives have charged a 23-year-old man in relation to the death of a 47-year-old male pedestrian that occurred on Saturday 13 June.

It is alleged that the male was driving a Holden Commodore along the Stuart Highway at Coolalinga when he struck the victim who was attempting to divert traffic around another fatal crash that had occurred earlier at the same location.

He has been charged with:

Driving motor vehicle - cause death
Enter intersection against red light
Drive a motor vehicle unsafe to drive

He has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on 29 September.

Further investigations are continuing.
