Motor Vehicle Crash Marlow Lagoon

Police

At about 1:36 am this morning Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance personnel attended a vehicle crash at Marlow Lagoon.

The man lost control of his Triton utility on Wishart Road causing him drift off the road and collide with a guard rail at the rail way crossing in Palmerston. The vehicle came to rest on the tracks and sustained extensive damage.

It appears the 32-year-old male driver had fallen asleep while driving. Initial investigations indicate that fatigue may have contributed to the crash.

NT Fire and Rescue members cut the man out of the car and he was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Duty Superintendent Dean Moloney urges the public " not to drive while tired and take breaks throughout your trip to avoid fatigue".
