NT Police Operation Rhino - 60 Odin’s Warriors OMCG’s

Police

Northern Territory Police have launched Operation Rhino in response to Odin's Warriors travelling through the Territory before and after spending time in Darwin this weekend.

Up to 60 Odin's Warriors are believed to be commencing an organised 'bike run' leaving Darwin early next week and traveling to Queensland.

Police expect the patched members will clearly identify themselves as part of the Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang during their stay.

Already, two travelling groups totaling 20 persons on Queensland registered bikes were stopped on Wednesday in Three Ways as part of Tennant Creek Police road side checks.

Tennant Creek Police also searched a vehicle travelling between the two groups of bikes, seizing approximately 1500 tablets believed to be MDMA with a street value of $75,000.

The driver and single occupant of the vehicle, a 36-year-old male, was arrested and charged with 'Possess commercial quantity of a schedule 2 drug', 'Possess dangerous drug in a public place', 'Supply commercial quantity', and 'Driving with prohibited drug in the blood'.

He has been remanded to appear in Alice Springs Court this morning at 10am.

The Police Operation Rhino aims to maintain community safety, law and order while sending a clear message to OMCG members that unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated.

Acting Superintendent Clinton Sims said this Operation is an excellent example of Northern Territory Police's zero tolerance to any unlawful activity by OMCG's,

"This Operation spans the Territory, remote and urban and includes members from all areas of the force, not forgetting the drug dogs.

"If people choose to participate as members of Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs, they can expect Police attention and we believe our community would expect nothing less of us.

"We are expecting up to 60 patched members in Darwin over the weekend so they are not going to be inconspicuous and some of our community may find them alarming and intimidating.

"Members of Police City Safe - CBD and licensed premise patrols have already been successfully liaising with licensees to implement a 'no patch or no entry' policy to reduce risks of problems over the weekend.

"There will be a highly visible police presence over the weekend and the community can be assured we will be out in force with zero tolerance for any unlawful, unruly and intimidating behaviour." A/Supt Sims concluded.

The community are reminded to call 131 444 for Police assistance. Dial 'Triple Zero' for emergency assistance from Police, Fire or Ambulance.
