The men left East Point and alerted a nearby police patrol to the incident. As members entered the reserve they observed the suspect vehicle driving toward Dick Ward Drive and activated lights and sirens in an attempt to apprehend the vehicle.

The offender did not follow police instructions and a brief pursuit ensued outbound before police lost sight of the vehicle. It was later located abandoned on Wilmot Street in the Narrows.
