Arrest for hooning – Alice Springs – 4363879

A man will appear in Alice Springs court on reckless driving charges after he was caught hooning by police last night.

Police received a report just after 11pm of a car doing burnouts on Plumbago Crescent.

On arrival police activated their lights, but the man continued to drive in a dangerous manner, almost colliding with the police vehicle.

Police arrested the man who attempted to flee on foot after his car became stuck on a bollard when he attempted to drive down an alleyway.

The man faces numerous driving offences including reckless driving, burnouts, drive high range blood alcohol and drive at a speed and in a dangerous manner.

Under the new anti-hooning laws, the man's vehicle was impounded for 48hours.

The man has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on September 22.
