A 44-year-old man has been charged in relation to a drink driving incident that occurred early this morning.
At approximately 12.30 this morning the man was observed getting out of his vehicle by staff at a service station on Trower Road, Casuarina and appeared to be intoxicated.
Police were notified and arrived at the service station just as the man was leaving in his vehicle and was apprehended. Whilst talking to the officers, the man allegedly reached into his car and produced a dead fish offering it to the members who politely declined it.
The man was breath tested and after returning a positive reading was conveyed to the Darwin Watch House where a breath analysis returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.235 percent.
He has been charged with high range drink driving and remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
"Police urge all members of the public to remain vigilant and if they witness any suspected drink driving to contact them on 131 444," said A/Supt Bob Harrison.
