A 28-year-old male has been charged after returning a high range blood alcohol reading twice in two days.
At approximately 3:00 pm yesterday the male entered the yard of business in Stuart Park and removed a Toyota Hilux from the location.
After crashing into a parked car as he reversed he continued on and travelled down Dinah Beach Road where he lost control of the car, crashed into an oncoming vehicle and then into a storm water drain.
The offender ran from the scene however was located a short time later in a nearby town camp, returning a blood alcohol reading of .219 percent.
He was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle, high range drink driving and other traffic related offences and was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
On Tuesday at around 4:30 pm it is alleged that he entered a store in Parap and stole a Ford utility that was parked at the location.
It was driven along the Stuart Highway and crashed into a traffic light, severing the pole from its concrete base before the offender drove off.
He was apprehended at a Service Station on Wishart Road by an off duty member and returned a breath analysis reading of .250 percent.
He was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, high range drink driving and other traffic offences. He received bail and was to appear in court at a later date.
