Drugs - woman charged

Alyangula Police yesterday conducted searches of passengers and luggage at Groote Eylandt Airport.

Members apprehended a 21-year-old woman acting suspiciously and a search of her luggage revealed clip seal bags of various sizes containing 213 grams of cannabis material in a computer. The drugs were in cryovac packaging in numerous layers with coffee granules in between each layer.

The woman was arrested and conveyed to the Alyangula Police Station and later charged with supply dangerous drug, possess cannabis (trafficable quantity) and will appear in the Alyangula Court today.
