Road reopened – Alice Springs

Police

Alice Springs Police have reopened both lanes of the Stuart Highway following an oil spill earlier today.

Police received a report just before 12.30 today that a 44 gallon drum of cooking oil had fell of the back of a truck causing an oil spill on the corner of Commonage Road and the Stuart Highway.

Police closed the road from 12.30 until 2.30pm to allow Fire and Rescue Services to clean up the spill.

Police would like to thank local media for advising motorists of the road closure.
