A 52-year-old woman was injured when she was assaulted outside a Tennant Creek Hotel on Friday night.
Police received a report about the assault when the woman was taken to Tennant creek Hospital by her husband after the attack. The woman told police she and a friend had just left the Goldfields Hotel about 11pm and were walking home when their path was blocked by a group of young men. When they asked the group to let them pass, one youth approached the victim and shoved her in the chest causing her to fall down. As she was getting up he kicked her to the chest causing her to hit her head on the kerb.
The women went home and the victim's husband took her to hospital for treatment to a laceration to her head.
The victim described the offender as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged between 16 and 18 years old, approximately 175cm tall and wearing a black baseball cap. He was also wearing a white hooded top with a black and white diamond pattern.
