Arrest for pub break-in – Alice Springs - 4401533

A 21-year-old man will face court after being arrested by police following a break-in at an Alice Springs hotel at the weekend.

Police received a report just before 4.30am on Saturday that the Firkin and Hound Tavern in Hartley Street had been unlawfully entered. The offender forced open a rear door to the premises before making off with three 1125ml bottles of Bundaberg Rum, three of Jack Daniels, three of Cougar Bourbon and one of Jim Beam.

Police arrested the alleged offender approximately 15 minutes later on the Alice Springs Town Council lawns after having viewed CCTV footage in which the offender was identified.

The man was arrested and charged with unlawful entry, stealing and criminal damage. He appeared in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
