A 26-year-old male prisoner, Able Pareroultja, has escaped from a minimum security cottage at the Alice Springs Correctional Centre overnight.

He is described as of Aboriginal appearance 172 cm tall, medium build, short brown hair, and has a 15 cm scar on his upper abdomen.

A check of the low security cottage by corrections officers was preformed at 10 pm last night during which it was discovered that the male had left the location.

Alice Springs Police responded, set up a road block and searched the local area and investigations are continuing.

The male normally resides in Hermannsburg however he may still be in the Alice Springs area and police advise that he poses no risk to the community.
