Police are investigating an incident at East Point Road this morning in which a man was injured when he was pushed off his bicycle.

Police received a report just before 8.30am from witnesses who saw a man confronted by the offender who allegedly pushed him from his bike and stole his bag.

The 60-year-old male victim received head injuries from the fall and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Witnesses said they saw a male confront the man as he was riding his pushbike on the bike path near Pee Wees Restaurant. The offender is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 185 cm tall and wearing dark pants and a white singlet or hooded shirt. He grabbed the man's black bag and fled.

Police cordoned off the area and the general purpose dog was used to try to track the offender.

Investigations are continuing and police are appealing for witnesses who may have information about the incident to come forward.
