Youth arrested for traffic offences – Karama

Police

Members of the Youth Crime Unit arrested a 14-year-old male in Karama at approximately 2:40am this morning after receiving complaints of a quad bike being ridden around the suburban streets.

As a result of the community concerns, Police conducted foot patrols around the suburb and apprehended the youth riding a Yamaha Big Bear 400 quad bike along Manunda Terrace.

The youth was breath tested and returned a positive result.

He was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch house and later released into the care of a relative.

He will be summonsed at a later date to face a number of traffic offences.

Youth Crime Unit Sergeant Jeffrey Mosel praised the work of the community for informing police of the suspicious activity and also the smart policing by members.

"By participating in proactive foot patrols, the members were able to apprehend the youth successfully and without incident", he said.
