Court after crash -Alice Springs

Police

A man will face court after narrowly missing colliding with a police car and crashing his own car after losing control of the vehicle.

Members of the Property Crime Reduction Unit were travelling along Stuart Terrace in an unmarked car when a vehicle sped out of the Memorial Club car park and almost collided with them.

The incident occurred just after 12.35am yesterday.

Police activated their lights and sirens and began following the vehicle, but called off the pursuit a short time later due to the excessive speed of the offending vehicle as it continued down Telegraph Terrace.

Police came across the vehicle a short time later after the driver apparently lost control of his Holden Commodore sedan which mounted the Tom Brown roundabout before it rolled. The vehicle was extensively damaged and the driver was taken to Alice Springs Hospital as a precaution. The 26-year-old man will be summonsed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court in relation to the incident.
