Katherine - Series of Unlawful Entries

Katherine Police are investigating a series of unlawful entry and stealing incidents that occurred between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Police were alerted yesterday to the unlawful entry of Beagle Motor Inn on Fourth Street which occurred around 2:30am yesterday. The owners of the business were woken by the offender, who appears to have entered the premises by smashing a window in the kitchen, before fleeing through the front doors with about $600 cash and cigarettes.

The Pine Tree Motel was also reported broken into sometime between 12:20am and 3:30am Thursday morning. It appears the offender entered the premises by smashing a door to the restaurant possibly with a rock. After walking through the reception area the offender exited the premises, before breaking into the owner's vehicle and removing a post office key and medication.

A third unlawful entry at the Katherine River Lodge is believed to have occurred between 10:30pm on Wednesday night and 4:30am yesterday morning. It is alleged that the offender gained entry to the premises through a glass panel window in the men's toilet, before forcing entry to the reception office and fleeing the scene with $200 removed from the cash till.

Katherine Police believe the incidents are linked and are calling public assistance to locate the offender, who is described as male, short, stocky build and was wearing a bandanna or hat at the time of the incident.

Police urge any one who way have witnesses suspicious activity in the area of any of these incidents or who may have further information to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 00.
