Drug Arrest – Darwin Airport

Police have arrested a 53-year-old woman at Darwin Airport yesterday in relation to drug related offences.

At 9.00am yesterday morning Drug Enforcement Officers, supported by the Dog Operations unit attended the light aircraft terminal. During a routine search of luggage, drug dog 'Foley' has given a positive reaction to the luggage of a passenger on a flight to Wadeye.

A subsequent search of the bag has located a quantity of Cannabis. The passenger was subsequently searched and a further amount of Cannabis was located. In total, the woman was found to be in possession of 116.4gm of cannabis.

The 53-year-old Wadeye woman was arrested and was subsequently charged with possessing a trafficable quantity of Cannabis.

She has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
