Unlawful entry arrests –Alice Springs

Three people have been arrested following an unlawful entry at a licensed premises in the Todd Mall early this morning.

Police received a report just before 2am that alarms had been activated at the Town and Country Tavern in the Mall. Police found the side doors of the premises had been forced and a quantity of alcohol had been stolen. Three males aged 18, 16 and 26 were arrested a short time later near the Alice Springs Post Office. The stolen alcohol was located in a rubbish bin nearby.

The 16-year-old youth will be considered for youth diversion while the 18-year-old has been charged with unlawful entry and stealing and has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on May 11.

The 26-year-old was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today. He has also been charged with unlawful entry and stealing. In addition he has been charged with escaping lawful custody and resisting police after he fled the police station grounds as he was being escorted from the Watch House to the station this morning. He was recaptured in the neighbouring Coles car park.

Another co-offender is still outstanding.
