Casuarina Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an alleged assault in Nakara yesterday afternoon.

It is alleged a 41-year-old woman was leaving the Nakara shopping complex at 1:00pm yesterday when she was approached from behind by an unknown person. It alleged the person then struck the woman with an unknown object before she kicked them in self defence. The offender then fled the scene.

The woman attended Royal Darwin Hospital and received treatment to lacerations she received to her neck and arm.

Casuarina members attended the scene and are currently pursuing all avenues of enquiry.

Detective Sergeant Len Turner says "any one who witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Nakara shopping centre yesterday afternoon is urged to contact Police".
