Arrests - Unlawful entry and stealing - Palmerston

Members from the Commanders Tactical Team have arrested two 14-year-old males in relation to unlawful entry offences which occurred in Palmerston this month.

A 14-year-old youth is alleged to have been involved in an incident that occurred at the Driver Shops late last month. The youth and unknown co offenders are alleged to have stolen a forklift from a nearby worksite before using the vehicle to force entry to the shop; stealing cigarettes.

Another 14-year-old male is alleged to have unlawfully entered a home in Moulden after forcing open a front screen door over the Easter Long Weekend. He is alleged to have removed a number of items including a Play Station 3, games, a laptop, WII console and a set of car keys.

A grey Honda Civic was also stolen from the residence the following night. Police later found the vehicle abandoned at Casuarina Shopping Square. Investigations are continuing to establish whether the two incidents are linked.

The boys were arrested at a residence in Moulden yesterday morning.

They have been charged with aggravated property offences and bailed to appear in Darwin Youth Court on 18th of May 2010.

Sergeant Andy Bedwell from the Commanders Tactical Team says "these were timely arrests involving joint investigations between the Commanders Tactical Team and Palmerston Police; and Police will continue to patrol Territory streets targeting these offenders".
