Arrest Stolen Vehicle

NT Police have arrested two males in relation to the theft of a vehicle from a service station in Berrimah early this morning.

It is alleged the driver of the vehicle and his passenger attended the Caltex service station on Stuart Highway at about 3:00am this morning before exiting the car and entering the shop. A short time later the men returned to find the white Holden Rodeo utility missing.

A 16-year-old male is alleged to have entered the vehicle shortly after the victim exited and located a key hidden in vehicle before driving to Bagot Community to pick up a 25 year-old male.

The two offenders then drove around the Darwin area before Police apprehended the vehicle on Trower Road at 4:20 am. At this time, the 25-year-old male was driving. The males were arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watch House where the driver returned a blood alcohol content reading of .205 percent.

Presently, both males are in custody whilst the investigation into the matter continues.

The 25-year-old man is expected to be charged in relation to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, High range drink driving and driving without a licence offences and the youth is expected to be charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.

OIC Casuarina Police Station, Senior Sergeant Shaun Furniss says "this is a timely reminder to be vigilant; Police urge the public to ensure vehicles are locked and always keep the car keys on you, not in the vehicle".

"NT Police will continue to patrol the community to locate these cunning offenders and get them off our streets".
