Cannabis seizure - Humpty Doo

Members of the Drug Enforcement Section arrested a 37-year-old man in relation to drug offences yesterday.

Police executed a search warrant of the offenders Humpty Doo home at 3:15pm yesterday resulting in the seizure of 24 kilograms of cannabis material, including seven plants.

Four of the cannabis plants were located in a hydroponics grow room attached to part of the residential structure. The other three plants were located in a more sophisticated hydroponics grow room located behind a false wall in a shipping container near by.

Also located during the search was a device attached to the electrical metre which the offender installed to attempt to unlawfully obtain electricity.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House where he made full admissions. He has been charged with the following offences and is due to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 29 April.

Cultivate cannabis.
Possess a dangerous drug.
Unlawful appropriation of power.
Interfere with power supply equipment.

Senior Sergeant Clint Sims says "Cannabis has very damaging social and health consequences and NT Police are committed to keeping people safe by apprehending these illicit drug distributors".
