Two youths are currently in police custody following an incident that occurred this morning.

It is alleged that two youths aged 16 and 17 stole a red Toyota Camry from a residence in Wulagi between 10:00 pm last night and 5:00 am this morning.

The vehicle was seen by police on Gsell Street in Wanguri at approximately 11:30 am today. Police pursued the vehicle at low speed for several minutes through Wagaman and into Wulagi.

The offenders abandoned the vehicle on Kingfisher Crescent and fled the scene on foot.

Two police Constables chased them for approximately one kilometre before they were apprehended.

Territory Duty Superintendent Bruce Porter said "It was a great effort on behalf of the two young constables who were involved in the foot pursuit which travelled over some distance and ended with the apprehension of two offenders, as well as the vehicle" he said.
