Home invasion and assault - Gray

Police

A 42-year-old man was released from hospital this morning after being assaulted in his Palmerston home on Monday night.

Police say the victim had answered his front door at around 7:30 pm and was confronted by two offenders who allegedly pushed their way into the unit and assaulted the victim with a baseball bat.

The offenders have then fled the scene with the victim's wallet, approximately $100 in coins and a packet of cigarettes.

Offender one is described as:
Male
Of Aboriginal appearance
183cm
Soil build
Wearing a black balaclava with a single hole for the eyes
Wearing dark/black clothing - long pants and long sleeved shirt

Offender two is described as:
Male
Of Caucasian appearance
177cm
Mid 20s to early 30s
Wearing white runners with white socks and red satin shorts

Superintendent Wayne Jenkinson said: "This was a callous act that only lasted a few minutes. Police once again remind people to ensure they secure their premises both when at home or away."

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on Monday night. Anyone with information should phone Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
