A 26-year-old man has been arrested following an assault in Tennant Creek which has left a man in hospital.
Police received a report just before 9pm last night that a 48-year-old man had been assaulted in a pizza parlour. The victim was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital and later medivaced to Alice Springs with serious head injuries.
Police arrested the alleged offender in Paterson Street a short time after the assault. He is in police custody and is yet to be interviewed.
Meanwhile the victim remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Alice Springs Hospital in a serious but stable condition and police investigations are continuing.
