Katherine Police were called to a fatal single vehicle accident near Top Springs last night.

At about 7:50 pm police were alerted to the crash on the Buchanan Highway about 10 kilometres from Top Springs Hotel, after a motorist stopped to render fist aid.

It appears the 20-year-old male driver of the white Toyota Landcruiser utility was travelling from Pussycat Camp toward Top Springs when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll an unknown number of times.

Police attended the scene however the male driver was deceased upon arrival, two female passengers', aged 21 and 25-years-old were air lifted to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment to injuries sustained in the crash.

It is unknown whether speed or alcohol were contributing factors, however it appears seat belts were not utilised in the vehicle.
