Arrest - Drug seizure

A 22-year-old man has been charged in relation to a number of drug offences after police arrested him in Palmerston early yesterday morning.

The offender is alleged to have been spray painting graffiti on the power station at the corner of Temple Terrace and Roystonea Avenue in Palmerston when he was disturbed by a security officer and fled the scene on foot.

Police attended the location and searched the man's vehicle locating the following items;

28 small clip seal bags of cannabis
2 clip seal bag of crystallised methamphetamine
2 clip seal bags of paste methamphetamine
14.5 LSD tabs
1 glass smoking pipe
1 smoking implement
11 cans of spray paint

A short time later police found the offender hiding in bushes not far from the scene.

He was subsequently conveyed to Darwin Watch House.

Members from the Drug Enforcement Section conducted a search of his Palmerston house later in the day locating more drugs including:

3 medium clip seal bags of methamphetamine powder
5 small clip seal bags containing methamphetamine powder
1 clip seal bag containing cannabis
4 clip seal bags of methamphetamine paste
1 clip seal bag containing 2 MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets

He was charged with a number of possess drug offences and has been bailed to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 6 September 2010.

Detective Senior Sergeant Clint Sims from the Drug Enforcement Section said, "This man was clearly a street level dealer with a wide variety of drugs available for supply. While the quantities were relatively small police are committed to reducing the availability of these substances because of their harmful effects on our community."
