Members of the Southern Traffic Operations Unit received a complaint of the driver's behaviour just after 3.30am. Investigations led to the car and driver being identified and the Holden Commodore was impounded for 48 hours yesterday.

The man was issued with a Traffic Infringement Notice under the Hooning Act.
Sergeant Conan Robertson said this was the second car to be impounded in the last few days and police would continue to follow-up reports on hooning behaviour.

"We've also recently been issued with large banners which we place on the vehicle's windscreen identifying the car as having been impounded for hooning," Sgt Robertson said.

"Hopefully this will prove a further deterrent to those who still fail to get the message that hooning is not tolerated in Alice Springs."
