Police allege the man entered the property at approximately 10:40 pm by smashing the bottom glass pane on a locked sliding door with a large rock.

The offender has then searched the property and stolen two kitchen knives, a pair of scissors and a bottle alcohol.

A security guard patrolling the area interrupted the man and questioned what he was doing at the premises. The offender has then produced one of the stolen knives and pointed it at the security guard before running from the scene.

A short time later police apprehended the man near the Palmerston bus depot where he was arrested.

The man is currently in police custody and may face changes including stealing, unlawful entry, going armed in public and posses/carry/use control weapon at night.
