Reward Offered – Arson Baroalba Street - Leanyer

A reward of up to $250,000 is now being offered for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Nicholas Middas.

The Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services has approved a reward of up to $250,000 which will be allocated at the discretion of the Police Commissioner, John McRoberts.

Major Crime Superintendent Kris Evans said police hope this will bring forward information to enable them to solve this terrible crime.

"The community were shocked and outraged at this senseless and horrific crime, he said.

"For the sake of the Middis family and the community as a whole, the person or persons responsible for this death of an innocent young boy need to be brought to justice.

"We will be distributing posters far and wide to inform the community of this reward and encourage anyone with information to call Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000."



Background:

In the early hours of Sunday 13 June 2010, a fire was reported at the residence of 1/17 Baroalba Street, Leanyer which resulted in the death of 8-year-old Nicholas Middas.

His mother, Deborah and brother, Daniel also received serious injuries during the fire. Deborah was transported to Adelaide Hospital to receive treatment.
