Hit and run –Update # 1 -Alice Springs - 4601881

Police

The witness told police the vehicle possibly had no registration number plates and one headlight was not working. The vehicle also had a spoiler on the boot.

Despite extensive patrols and inquiries, Police are yet to identify the car or the people involved in this incident. Police have been liaising with the Alice Springs Hospital and the community clinics in the area however, none have any record of a child being brought in with injuries consistent with being hit by a car. Police have also identified and eliminated several cars similar to the one believed to have been involved in the incident.

Detective Sergeant Janelle Snigg said police were again appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who could identify the people involved.

"We have spoken to a large number of people in this regard and also patrolled all the communities and remote outstations where the alleged offender may have gone, but it's baffling to us that no-one appears to have any knowledge of this incident.," Det Sgt Snigg said.

" We've also viewed CCTV footage of the area where the offence was supposed to have taken place, but have found nothing of significance to support what occurred.

"Obviously we will continue our inquiries into this matter and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
