Unlawful entry arrests –Alice Springs

Two men will face court after they were apprehended by police trying to break into the BP Gap Road Service Station.

Police were alerted just before 11pm on Sunday by members of the public who heard suspicious noises coming from the rear of the premises. Two police officers attended and found the pair hiding at the back of the store.

Police allege they were trying to break into the premises by prising off a sheet of timber which had been placed over the doorway following an earlier break-in which police allege one of the offenders was also responsible for. In that unlawful entry around 2.30am on Sunday morning a glass panel was broken to gain entry and a quantity of alcohol was stolen.

The 35-year-old has been charged with:
Attempt unlawful entry
Unlawful entry
Stealing
Unlawfully damage property and trespass
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on September 17.

The 22-year-old has been charged with:
Attempt unlawful entry
Trespass.
He has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on September 21.
