Escape Prison Custody - Adelaide River - update

A 22-year-old man who escaped prison custody in Adelaide River earlier today has now been arrested by Police.

At about 12:30 pm the man escaped Northern Territory Correctional Services custody after stopping at a service station in Adelaide River to attend the bathroom, while being escorted to Darwin by prison officers.

He was apprehended at 3:40pm after a member of the public advised police of his location in a house in Adelaide River.

Police are currently escorting the man to Darwin Watch House where he is expected to be charged in relation to escape lawful custody offences.

Superintendent Tony Fuller would like to thank the public for their assistance.

"Police thank the public for their assistance in making this timely arrest" he said.
