Three youths apprehended for aggravated criminal damage – Berrimah

Three youths have caused over $55,000 worth of damage to vehicles and property at a Berrimah auction yard late yesterday afternoon. The offenders, aged 10, 12 and 13 years, allegedly entered a compound, currently being leased by an auction company, via a hole in a 6 foot cyclone chain mesh fence at the rear of an adjoining petrol station. Four vehicles were damaged in the crime spree, including a 54-seater passenger bus, which had every window smashed. Several fire extinguishers were located nearby and discharged within the confines of the bus, destroying all surfaces and the contents of the bus. Estimated damage to the bus exceeds $55,000.00. One of the youths was apprehended by Palmerston General Duties Police at the rear of the service station. The other two offenders were later apprehended at a Palmerston address. Two of the alleged offenders have been charged and bailed with curfew restrictions. Charges include; Interfere with vehicle Trespass on enclosed premises Damage property where loss is over $5000 The 10-year-old is assisting police with their enquiries.
