Police in Alice Springs arrested a 32-year-old man after drug dog Nugget detected Cannabis in his back pack.

On Saturday just after 1.30pm police from the Drug Intelligence Unit and the Dog Operations Unit conducted a search of a Greyhound passenger bus which had arrived from Adelaide.

Drug Dog Nugget showed a positive reaction to the man's backpack where police found two cryovaced bags of Cannabis weighing 444 grams.

The drugs were seized and the man was arrested and charged with possessing and supplying a trafficable quantity of Cannabis.

He has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on December 16.
