Unlawful Entry - Hidden Valley Tavern

A 19-year-old man remains in police custody after he was arrested in relation to an unlawful entry at the Hidden Valley Tavern overnight.

At about 4:30 am this morning police were called to the premises on the Stuart Highway in Berrimah after alarms at the tavern were activated.

The offender is alleged to have smashed a glass door to gain entry before interfering with a coin counting machine and fleeing the scene.

Damage at the location is estimated at approximately $6300.

Upon arrival police were provided with CCTV footage clearly depicting the offender and located him walking on Berrimah Road a short time later.

He was conveyed to Darwin Watch House and is currently assisting police in their investigations.

Senior Sergeant Michael Hebb said this was an extremely quick arrest.

"The prompt action of our members coupled with the availability of CCTV footage resulted in this timely arrest. This incident further demonstrates the effectiveness of CCTV in assisting police to apprehend offenders" he said.
