Motorists are being advised to be cautious and not take any risks if driving in the Tennant Creek region.
Heavy rain in the area has led to rising water levels around the town.
Police say motorists should slow down, take care and not attempt to cross flooded areas of the Stuart Highway - particularly in two-wheel drive vehicles - without checking depth levels first.
Police say if motorists come across cut areas of the Highway they should wait, as water levels in the region tend to drop quickly.
