An NT Police vehicle has been damaged after a large disturbance in Galiwinku overnight.



Galiwinku members attended Riyalanura Street at about 12:30 am this morning after receiving reports of 500 people involved in an altercation at the Council Offices.



It is alleged the disturbance broke out after a 15-year-old girl was assaulted by and unknown person at a disco and as a result family members became involved in a loud argument on the street.



As soon as police arrived at the scene a large number of people left, however a number of small groups continued to argue outside.



It appears that while police were tending to these smaller disturbances an unknown person has smashed has the passenger side mirror of their Toyota Hilux.



The damage is estimated at about $500.



Investigations are continuing and members hope to speak with a number of people today.
