A 39-year-old man was arrested following a car fire in Alice Springs overnight.

Police and fire crews were called to the Priest Street residence just after 1am this morning and found a Honda Integra fully ablaze. Fire crews extinguished the blaze which completely destroyed the vehicle and also caused extensive damage to the car port.

Investigations led to the arrest of the alleged offender who will be interviewed later today.

Police are calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
