Indecent assault –Alice Springs

Police are investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old girl was indecently assaulted in a Supermarket last night.

Police received a report just after 8.30pm from a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly grabbed by a man near the deli section of Coles Supermarket. The victim told police the man indecently assaulted her and also tried to grab the victim's 13-year-old sister who was nearby.

The girls managed to escape and reported the incident to police.

Police are viewing CCTV footage to identify the offender who is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 175cm tall with a solid build. He was wearing a blue Hawaiian-style shirt and dark jeans at the time of the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of the Coles complex last night around the time of the assault to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
