Update # 10 - Notice of Suspension of Liquor Licences

Police

Taking into account the status of Tropical Cyclone Carlos and in the interest of public safety, all liquor licences in the area affected by Cyclone Carlos have been suspended. This suspension notice covers the service of alcohol on-premise, including taverns, pubs and clubs and take-away venues. Hotels providing accommodation in the affected area are exempt from the suspension so as to allow for the service of alcohol with a meal to bona fide lodgers. The Chairman of the Licensing Commission advises that this suspension, under Section 48(A) of the Liquor Act, will be reviewed in conjunction with the Counter Disaster Council when the council reconvenes in the morning.
