Police have arrested a 54-year-old man who allegedly indecently assaulted a teenager at an Alice Springs supermarket last week.

Police received a report on Tuesday night that a 16-year-old girl who was in the Coles supermarket with her 13-year-old sister around 8.30pm had been indecently assaulted. The victim reported the incident to police and an image of the alleged offender from the CCTV footage was released on Friday.

At around 5pm on Saturday, the victim contacted police to advise she had seen the alleged offender in the CBD.

Police arrested the man in Hartley Street a short time later.

He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
